The Model. Why is it important?

The brain keeps a map or ‘3D model’ of the body in its current environment, so it knows where the body is in time and space in relation to everything else in the world. It continually updates this personal model from visual input and other senses, like pressure, touch, and other mechanoreceptors nreve cells that detect changes in skin shape and muscle activation). This model is a prerequisite to human movement.

It is more fundamental, and maybe even precedes the foundation behind the perception-action loop.
